alecia haselton is an alt/folk/rock singer, musician, and songwriter based in Corralitos, California, near Santa Cruz. Here she grew up surrounded by apple orchards, and the sweet smell of freshly cut hay in the farm fields below. Her early years mostly revolved around riding and competing horses, following in the footsteps of her mom. Musically, she was a late bloomer. She wasn’t accepted into the competitive jazz choir in high school, so she brushed her singing dreams away, under the rug.

But secretly, she was obsessed with Avril Lavigne and My Chemical Romance, and longed to be on stage singing to hundreds of people, just like them. alecia sang in her room when no one was home. She couldn’t wait to get her driver’s license just so she would have a small, quiet, private place to practice singing loud and alone: the car. She taught herself to sing by listening to the radio and imitating the different voices and styles. But she never thought she could seriously pursue the thing.

Plans to become a doctor were abandoned when she dropped out college back-east in 2012, longing for something more meaningful. It didn’t feel right. She ended up taking music classes at the local community college, Cabrillo, perhaps influenced by the presence of music on both sides of her family. Her father is a classical pianist and opera singer and her grandmother, on her mother’s side, was an opera singer. She enrolled at School of Rock at age 18, and her first show ever on stage was singing Led Zeppelin songs with a full band in Palo Alto. Her first original band was an alt rock group, The Valerias, based out of Watsonville, that lasted about a year.

Alecia eventually graduated with an associate’s degree in music in 2017 from Cabrillo. While in school, she also while sang for pop punk band Get Out, located in the East Bay. This was a band that won a Battle of the Bands contest The Valerias (her first band) hadplaced third in. alecia kept a close eye on the winning band after that day, and eventually joined them! Get Out played iconic venues such at Green Day’s stomping grounds 924 Gilman in Berkeley, and toured up and down the west coast. College acceptance letters and big-kid career decisions broke the young group up, and she soon realized it was hard to find a group of 5 people with similar schedules, goals, and temperaments. So, she started learning instruments on her own: guitar, piano, ukulele, and autoharp. She wanted to write and perform her own songs.

In 2018, alecia had her first gig in the bay area at O’Malley’s in Mountain View. Over the next few years, she played many solo acoustic shows in California, as well as the keyboard in several original bands. At the end of 2019, she decided to move to her life-long dream place Hawai’i, where she lived and played music professionally for two beautiful years.

A birthday trip while living in Hawai’i to never-before-seen Nashville in June of 2021 planted a seed. Although she was in love with the island life, maybe there was more industry and networking to be experienced beyond her little island paradise. She decided to move to Nashville in the fall of 2021 to pursue music even more professionally. alecia sang with a rock/country cover band on Broadway, the main street in downtown Nashville, 4-6 times a week for work, full-time, from 2022-2025. She had tons of fun, learned a lot, and shared the stage with some of the most talented musicians in the world. alecia had her first full-band original music showcase in August of 2023 in Nashville, and showcased her music solo acoustic at multiple writers’ rounds.

In 2025, alecia felt a strong pull to move back to her hometown Corralitos. Nashville was fun, but burnt her out. She felt she could use what she learned in Nashville to continue playing and writing music in California, all while building a more stable, grounded life.

alecia is currently working on the production of nine original songs to be released as singles in 2026 and 2027. Her most recent 2026 single is called, “like a child,” a song she wrote on piano in her twenties about the beauty of a child-like mind, full of wonder and awe.

She also has two music videos, a lyric video, and tons of live footage and unreleased songs on her YouTube channel. Her original songs range in genre from alternative to folk to rock to emo to country, and remind listeners of artist such as Jewel, Alanis Morisette, Avril Lavigne, The Cranberries, and Natalie Merchant.

After years of performing professionally in Nashville, she is now back in California, recording more of her original music and performing throughout the Santa Cruz area. Her songs blend vulnerability with a raw, energetic edge—music for anyone who has ever felt deeply, dreamed big, or wondered where they belong.
